I am looking for some 301 receivers for Sky Angel customers so a deal from Dish is out if you are a SA customer only. I have seen 301's on Ebay fairly cheap but no smart cards. What can be done with that besides the obvious pay Dish the Card replacement fee. Can I take a card from an old 1000 for instance and get Dish to authorize? Anybody with experience like this or maybe experience with getting a receiver with a balance owed authorized?

Call Dish CSR and verify a status of the receiver and the card what you suppose to use together. After that you will see your next steps. And yes - any card could work with any receivers ( excluding latest software what requred ONLY yellow cards ).

BTW, if the reciever had a yellow card before, it will only accecpt yellow cards in the future!
Also BTW DISH receivers can have an outstanding balance on them even if they don't have a SMARTCARD!!!

That is the bad thing about Dish Network, they will not allow someone else to reactivate the receiver if there is a balance owed. I think DirecTv will allow you to reactivate a receiver even if a balance is owed but a new card has to be purchased, if I am not mistaken. I could be wrong about this.
The new Dish Network receivers coming out (111 and 311) that have no smart cards, I would imagine that installers, retailers, and consumers would not have to give a smart card when activating the receivers as they would be guaranteed to have the built in card chip inside in which would no longer need a number. I wonder how their computers would handle this.

They will handle it very well - don't worry ! System Info screen still show all pertinent information for Dishnetwork CSR.

The reason why I asked about their computer system handeling the situation because Charlie says how his computer system cannot handle this and that such as handeling more than 6 receivers, having certain program packages, etc. whatever the excuse is.
