This board has been awesome for providing advise for wiring my basement that will soon be finished. That being said I have yet another...I am planning for an area where 3 HD DVRs will be. One TV will be located right above one of the receivers but the other 2 tvs will be about 18 feet away from each of the other 2 receivers. My quesion is how would you connect the receivers to the tvs...as i see it i have 2 options (assuming i use HDMI). One, I could run HDMI from reciever to a HDMI coupler in a wall plate, then another HDMI out the coupler in the wall to the back of another wall plate coupler at the tv. Then a 3rd HDMI from the coupler to the TV...total of 3 cables and alot of connections but it would look good. OR,,I could use one HDMI cable and pass through plates to just directly connect the tv to the receiver..less cables but might not look as good..thoughts please.
thanks

Thats going to come down to peronsal choice. I like wall plates myself. That way if you happen to decommision one of the tvs/locations you don't have this cable hanging out the wall.

I gotta agree with RobertE. The passthrough plates look nowhere near as clean as the plates with connectors. It's certainly just a personal choice, and won't affect your functionality either way.

So no concerns with signal quality issues using the couplers and multiple cables?

No, there are no concerns with using good quality connectors. Having said that, the two TV's I have that are wall mounted do not use the wall plate connectors. Instead, I use a Leviton "keystone" snap-in plate and just pulled the HDMI connector through that. I don't intend to move those TV's (even when I sell the house).

Rudeney,

I acutally considered that as well because I think all my plates will be keystone...thought about buying the HDMI keystone adaptors at first but the more I think about it, I like your idea of just pulling through the hole...then I use 1 cable and if I ever need to move the tvs (they will aslo be wall mounted) then I could always put a blank in the keystone hole...thanks
