View Full Version : Travel Channel HD?????

I turned on the new guide channel last night and noticed that it had Travel Channel HD channel 277. I quickly went to see if indeed it was added and there is only 1 TC 277 and it's in SD not HD. Am I to assume it's coming soon? Also what happened to ESPN Classics, YES extra cam HD and NBAHD that were all on last week? :confused:

I'm in CT if that will halp answer the regional sports answers.

i would assume with the baseball season ending sunday that would explain the YES camera. the others i have no clue.

He's definitely right, it definitely indicates Travel Channel as being in HD. I have no idea why.

It's not new, it's the guide channel, channel 100. It says Travel Channel with the HD icon next to it.

ESPN Classic was removed from basic packages, it can now only be viewed if you have Premier or Sports Pack. ESPNU was added to the basic packages in its place. You should now be able to view ESPNU, but again ESPN Classic will not be vieweable unless you have Sports Pack.

Technically not lost just swapped as ESPNU used to be only available in the Sports Pack.

This probably has to do with your receviers not getting the authorizations properly. If you were without service or the units we unplugged then your card would not have received the authorizations for the change.

Didn't that authorization move them from the Sports Pack to Choice Xtra?

Also, I'm still not clear on what the OP meant by Travel HD in the guide. My guide doesn't list it.

Channel 100 does have mistakes. For example, MLB Network appears to be SD only, but it's not. Time will tell about the Travel Channel.

Yup, I just checked. The HD logo is next to Travel Channel.

Please, let this not be a fluke.

This is the only channel I want. Once we get this channel in HD, I'll be one happy customer.

I have never looked at the guide thing on channel 100. For all I know...Travel could been listed as HD for a long time even though it is only SD. Are we sure this is a new development? Does anyone here regularly check channel 100 and noticed that the status of this channel actually changed recently?

Good question.

I have seen a couple of episodes lately that have the TravelChannelHD logo in the upper left of the screen, but the shows were definitely in SD. That probably just indicates that the show is available in HD, I assume. I will like it when its actually in HD, but until that time...... :)

Remember that they usually add new channels on Wednesday so this could indicate something for next week. Assuming it's not a mistake of course.

Hmm, they also have CSN Bay Area and CSN Cali in HD, even though all of the part time HD channels don't seem to have the special HD logo.

I wouldn't read too much into this yet. Although, they should probably correct it if it's just teasing us.

This is new because the last time I looked at channel 100 or 200 it showed previews of PPV. The channel description and program description still has the Movie Showcase/DirecTV Cinema preview description so they didn't update them when the change the program title and started showing the A-Z Channel Guide video.

yea i thought ch 100 was for ppv previews as well.

interesting that they changed it.

and travel ch hd would be a great addition as well. i think everyone carries it in my area except D* .

Or maybe they just forgot put an HD Tag by the 'Spike' Channel listing.

And the one HD Tag that they do have for 'Travel Channel' is correct. ;)

I noticed the same thing, but I am not gettin my hopes up for CSN, we already missed all of the MLB season. But, hey one can always hope that we're getting them both in HD for the NBA/NHL seasons.
