First-time installer of sat dish.

Direct TV Slimline 3LNB pointed to Az, Elev and Tilt obtained from dishpointer.com. On-screen testing shows signals in the 80's coming from sats 110 and 119. When I try to find channels on TV though, message says no signals found.

Theories? Wrong receiver? Other?

Thanks!

What about 101? That's where virtually everything is. 110 and 119 are barely used anymore. Which receiver?

A little more information would be helpful. Self Install? Model of receiver? what package are you on? What channels are you trying to tune? Are all channels giving same response. Is there an error number that starts with a 7? Which dish do you have? Are all satellites and all transponders showing in the 80's?

Thanks!Need more information a Slimline 3 LNB dosen't point to 110& 119 it points to 99/101/103. A phase 3 dish points to 101/110/119. What receiver are you using and why aren't you taking advantage of a new customers FREE install?

Wrong satellites or wrong dish. Slimline 3 LNB receives 99/101/103 not 110 & 119.

Use the settings built in the receiver; go to Dish Pointing, pick the Slimline-3 from the dish menu and type in your zip code to get the settings.

The dish points at the 101 sat.

You've got "something wrong" [DUH].
If you had a Slimline 3LNB, there wouldn't be any 110 & 119.
If you have a phase III [3 LNB] you'd have 101,110,119, but none of the MPEG-4 HD channels [99/103].
The Slimline center LNB is a 3-way [99/101/103], so if you see three LNBs on a Slimline, it's really a 5 LNB dish.
If you just installed this dish and it's a "real" slimline, they you need to fine tune the 99/103 SATs as they're a much narrower beam/target, so you can have 101/110/119 fine and still be off for the 99/103 SATs.

Wrong input selected!

Keep pushing the TV input button until you see a pic & audio.

Recheck all connections at the back of the receiver & TV.

There are no stupid questions, just stupid answers.

I agree that you are pointed at the wrong satellite. Try a little bit to the east. You are likely pointing at 110 instead of 101.

And one other note;

Do not confuse the "tilt" setting listed by dishpointer.com with the one recommended by your receiver based on the zip code you enter. The dishpointer.com "tilt" is referring to the estimated dish tilt required for the LNB to optimally receive linearly polarized signals used by most commercial FSS satellites. This obviously does not apply the circularly polarized signals used by DBS services like DirecTV and Dish Network.

Whereas the tilt settings for the DirecTV oval (or "elliptical") dishes are necessary to simultaneously receive from other satellite slots than the one it is centered on.

EDIT:

Actually if you choose the correct DirecTV elliptical dish setting in the drop-down box of the dishpointer.com main page after clicking on the "Multi-LNB Setups" category that I didn't notice before, embarrassingly enough  . It will give you the correct tilt adjustment.

If you go to dishpointer.com and specify the dish type then the tilt settings are correct for that DirecTV dish.

Thanks to all. I 'found' the 101, pointed the receiver to Slimline 3 and now have signal from 65-100 on 30 out of 32 transponders.

Not surprisingly the signal is good, all is well and you guys rock!

65 is very low. Your 101 signals should be in the 80s at least (90s prefereable). if you don't get them higher will probably loose signals when it rains.
