View Full Version : signal strength inconsistent?
Had a big wind with heavy clouds and showers the other night and signal strength was down 15 or so across the board. Thought i was going to have to realign but they came back to close to normal once things settled down. Now today i was checking to see where they were at and notice that they seem to be up and down. I check 101 and normal for me is 87-94 then i see some down as low as 60 but after a few minutes they come back to normal, this seems to be happening to 99a and 103b as well. Any ideas on what is going on? Could it be something Directv does periodically or is this a sign of an lnb failing?

Something is wrong on your end if the 99 & 103 signal numbers (14 transponders group) are not above 70, your alignment is off or you have a bad LNB unit.
80-89 = normal alignment.
90-99 = spot on alignment for the slimline 3 or 5 dish.:):)
Adjusting the tilt will balance 99 & 103.
Note: These are readings that are made on a clear weather day.

Also water getting into the connectors can cause havoc, just one reason I try to locate the ground block in a protected area,A burnt or discolored center wire at the connector is a sure sign of water intrusion.
How far north is up north?
well things seem to have settled down now and my signal strength is back to normal, i did however order a backup lnb just in case. As for how far north is up north, lets just say i was told once on here not to mention where i was from anymore, lol.
