View Full Version : Harrisburg DMA and Phiily sports blackouts

This is a question for those in the Harrisburg, PA area -

I know that Comcast Sportsnet / Philly is not available on satellite, so you can't see most Phillies / Flyers / 76ers games on Dish or DirecTV. :( I'm curious if games on ESPN / TNT / etc. are also blacked out. I know this is the case for the Philly DMA, but wasn't sure if all of the Harrisburg TV market is also part of the blackout area.

I don't live in the Philly market. But I remember when Comcast came on to the scene and started airing Philadelphia sports teams games (76ers, Phillies, Flyers) Back when Prism or Sportschannel Philadelphia changed. I guess the owners of the teams didn't want the games to be on Satellite TV and only available to Philadelphia Viewers on Philly Local cable outlets. I'd hate to live and be a DBS viewer in one of those markets.

I dont think people in Harrisburg are blacked out.

76ers and Flyers are owned by Comcast Spectator, which is part of Comcast anyways. The Phillies own the remaining part of Comcast SportsNet. The Philadephia City councilmen are fine with Comcast's grip of the situation, because Comcast is based here and employs here.
