I know that in order to get locals to the uplink center, it has to go to a Point-Of-Presence. (POP) What exactly is a POP and what does it look like?

I point of pressence is a site in a DMA that picks up the local channels for that area. Generally the stations are picked up via an OTA antenna or Antenna farm then cleaned up (sometimes if necessary) with Anti Ghosting equipment. The signals are then transmitted back to a Dish Uplink center. Most of these sites are serviced by Sprint as the signals are fibered back to Dish some can be uplinked back but most are not.
A POP could be very small and take up space on the top of a building, basically it could be anywhere.

Would there be a DISH logo at the site if it were found?

Let me guess, you think you may have found a site in your area in which they are doing this or you are wanting to know what to look for when this were to happen.

Nope. Just asking what I would look for if I ever see one. There are none in my area.
usually its a place with a tower and a lot of OTA antennas, or they place it on a sky scrapper or what not, i know i was drivng thru the country the other day and saw a site along the road that said "media one" and there was 5 dishes and a 50 ft tower with a bunch of UHF, Microwave and VHF arrials, i assumed it was the po dunk town's 30 channel cable services POP...
Near my job in Columbus there is a 100-150 ft tower with a bunch of antennas on it and microwave feeds and like 10-20 satellite dishes mounted next to a mini-building with tons of barbed wire fense around this, I assume this is the local cable Co's Point of presence. Whom else would have 10-20 12 Ft non mesh BUDS pointed in various directions.
