Liberty Media Corp. expects to complete its spinoff of satellite broadcaster DirecTV as a tax-free deal in November and issue its prospectus for its new Starz tracking stock in a few days.
Liberty Media (NASDAQ: LCAPA, LMDIA) has been waiting for a verdict from regulators about whether the spinoff of El Segundo, Calif.-based DirecTV will be tax-free for share owners. Greg Maffei, CEO of the Douglas County based media company, briefed investors in New York City on Friday and said the company expects to hear positive news within the next day or two.
