so I've never fooled with it as the colors look fine on my moniter, spoke 2 my mother & she was asking about this, she is having issues on a 22" samsung states the colors are off, since we live a few states away I dont have the ability to just "go over" & help her. any program(s) you guys recommend? (more user friendly the better) - thanks ahead of time

removed my previous reply as it mainly used for larger screens thus justifying the price....

Most computer display drivers feature a gizmo that will allow you to tweak the colors and adjust brightness, contrast and gamma correction.

Right click on the desktop (not any icon) and select properties.

On the settings tab, click the Advanced button.

Click on the Color Management tab and have your way with it.

You can't truly calibrate a display without special color filters, but you can squish it around until it "looks right".

I bought two Samsung SyncMaster 220wm Monitors to use as a Dual Head Set up for my photography and video editing set up. I couldn't believe how different things looked on each monitor connected to the same computer / video card. I even switched them to see if it was the video card but the difference followed the monitor.

I know it's not free but I ended up going with a Spyder 3 to Calibrate all of my monitors and I will say it really does make a difference, now you can't tell the difference on the two monitors. As I said I do a lot of photography so the cost was justifiable for me.

thanks for the info guys, mother is currently getting into photography thats why this is important to her she has a nice cannon slr? eh i don't do it so names slip my mind on that, but I will give her this info. Im sure cost is a factor 2 extent so thanks for low & higher end results. As I stated user friendliness is the biggest + other than that unsure how other rank in her priority;
