So the new HD Tivo is supposed to have HDCP. That's cool and all, but if my monitor is not HDCP compliant (but has a DVI input), does that mean I can't watch anything?
Also, is HDCP a function of the recorder or the program coming in? Assuming I'm understanding this correctly, if the show is not HDCP encrypted, then I can record it on my Tivo and watch it on my non HDCP compliant monitor, right?
In other words, I recently purchased a plasma with a DVI (non HDCP) input.
It also has component and RGB, so I can use those, but I'd prefer the digital stream if I can get it.
