My HR-20-700 is dying a slow death. DTV Protection Plan accidentally sent me two replacements (HR-20-100 and a HR-21-100). Which one should I keep to replace my HR-20-700 (Don't use OTA)? Thanks

Both are the same - other than the lack of OTA tuners in the HR21 and black finish

Keep whichever you want

What is your 20-700 doing that makes you think it is dying? Personally, if I got a 100 for a replacement, I'd ship it right back. Your 20-700 might be saved. What are the symptoms?

Since I posted my question I did some research on other threads (which I should of done before I called DTV) and discovered my hr-20-700 is doing the same as most everybody elses is i.e. occasional excessive noise, momentary pixelation and pauses during playback. When I called tech support we went thru the usual troubleshooting and she said they would replace it (not mentioning that the recent software update may be causing this). So now I'm thinking of just calling them and telling them they'll be getting the replacements back. Thanks for your advice.

Do that. And then pull the plug on your 20-700 for as long as you can. I pulled the plugs on six of my 20-700s for twelve hours and, while I still get the occasional glitch, it's gotten to be just a minor annoyance. From what I've been told, another NR is in the works that should address these issues.

That 20-700 is the best HR you'll be able to get your hands on. Keep it.
