Replacement 721 w/ new problem

I've had my 721 replaced few weeks ago due to pixelation. New unit (not sure if it is refurbished) now exhibits a not so troubling but still a problem. When I stop a recorded program and cancel the menu, screen goes black (no sound) and stays black until I change the channel. Channel and program info comes up with both "info" or "cancel" buttons.

I'm not bothered as much yet but wouldn't be surprised if it's condition deteriorates. :( :nono2: :mad:

I figure its not a new unit but a refurbished one. I would think that the refurbished would be better than new because of all the testing they do on these receivers. Dont forget the $1.99 warranty. Maybe I should add this to my signature at the bottom and to my website.

That problem you describe sounds like what the dishplayers used to do. I am now having a 721 replaced and hope it does not do this as well.

I sometimes get the black screen after watching a recorded program, but there is sound. Changing the channel clears it up. I started getting this after the last software update and IMO it is a software issue, not a hardware issue.

I would agree on it being a software issue. I wonder if this is related to the problem with losing sound when using the skip ahead or skip back features?
