Dishplayers are having the same problem with this weekend's Starz free preview that they had with the HBO free preview last month.
This bug apparently came with the latest version of the DP's web client software. The symptoms are: The free preview channels appear grayed out in the program guide.
You can't set a recording for the free preview channels using the guide.
The only reliable way to tune to the channel is to select it from the guide. Channel up/down and putting in channel numbers usually don't work (the preview channels are skipped or a "call ... to subscribe..." screen comes up). The exact behaviour varies depending if you are at HOME or in full screen mode.
The PTV features (pause,skip,etc.) do not work when watching preview channels live.
However there are two way to record these channels that work: If you will be there when the movie starts, tune to the channel using the guide and (after start time) hit the INFO button. Use the RECORD dialog.
If you won't be there when the movie starts you can set up a manual recording for the show but you must tune to the channel sometime before the start time.
If you want to record two movies on two different preview channels and you won't be there to change channels you are out of luck.
