The "lol" makes me think you are not being sincere about wanting to make a legal backup copy, so I'm not sure we can help you here.

Key word = "could" (http://techplore.com/technology/vlc-video-players-new-dvd-copying-feature-could-run-afoul-of-the-mpaa/)

It's illegal to perform the act, and that point is very arguable.

It is not illegal to discuss in the theoretical.
No illegal act has been performed, as far as I can tell.

I own several firearms.
They can perform both legal and illegal actions.
Ultimately, it's the responsibility of the individual, not the tool (no pun intended).

One would find software capable of performing the task and think about it that way.

A quick search yields

SlySoft AnyDVD. Yes, you have to pay for it, but it is worth every dollar. They also have an interesting (and free) product called Virtual Clone Drive that turns an ISO file into a "virtual" DVD drive.

This is a topic that has been started here before. It's really not appropriate for our forum. If you are interested, do a forum search and those threads are still out there, but I think we've all said what needs to be said, so I'm closing this one.
