Boat RV Exemption?

After seeing some hopeful comments in the recent Superstations thread, I called a CSR this morning to say I was shopping for a boat and heard it might qualify for an RV Exemption. The CSR said, uh, maybe a dealer can install it in your boat. I said I can handle mounting the antenna, but I wanted to know about the exemption. He said, uh, I better go check with my supervisor.

A couple of minutes later, the CSR returned and said using Dish on a boat is okay, but I couldn't get an exemption for it.

Anybody out there have counterexamples/tips?

I'm not the only person that has a RV exemption as a boater. Dish is not going to roll over and tell you that a boat is ok for a RV exemption as this is not really accepted under SVHIA. They plain and simply don't want to run afoul of the NAB and maybe just be spouting information so as not to cause alarm. But any from 24 foot and up should do.

Just send in that waiver request with the valid State registration in the same name as your Dish account and you should "sail through" pun intended, and get your Distant service.

Dish is really in uncharted territory on this issue, besides I wouldn't take one CSR's advice as cast in stone. I've called on a occasion and asked a specific question and been told things that are blatantly not true.

Some CSR's are very much in the dark some of the time, even when they tell you that they asked a "stupervisor".
