OK, this should be a simple fix. Or at least it used to be a simple fix in XP and even Vista.
I want to set the size that IE8 opens to. I have not been able to get it to stay the set size using the old tricks:
Hold shift, resize, close from X
Hold shift, resize, close from File> Close
Replace Shift with Ctrl
Nothing seems to set it to the size I want. :(
Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hmmm, IE8 (win 7 Ultimate 64bit) opens to exactly how I closed it. Same size, same screen location etc. as it was when I last exited. Do you want it to open to a specific default size no matter how you last left it?

I like to open it to full height, but leaving a couple of inches on each side of my WS monitor. It already opens to a good width, but I have to readjust the height every time.
When I close and then reopen, it does not return to how it was when I closed it.

Give FreeSnap (http://blueonionsoftware.com/freesnap.aspx) a try. It seems to work fine under Win7 when I tested on RC.

Strange, for me IE8 opens to EXACTLY the identical width and height that I last exited it every time without fail under Win 7 64bit Ultimate. Could it be your video drivers or screen size setting? Are you set for the native resolution of your monitor? I'm using a 27" Dell WS display with an Nvidea card set at native 1920 x 1200 using the latest drivers from Nvidea.
Did you upgrade to Win7 or did you do a clean install?

This always works for me on any program...
1. Open program.. in this case IE
2. Place the top left corner of the program windows where you want it to be on the screen.
3. Use your mouse to grab the bottom right corner of the program.. get the diagonal arrow (make sure it is the diagonal and not the horizontal or vertical) and drag until you have the right side and bottom of the window placed exactly where you want it.
4. Go to the top right corner of the window... use the minimize/maximize button to the left of the red x used to close the window. Hit it once to maximize the window then hit it again to return it to the size you had custom created... if it doesn't repeat the steps above til it does... then close the window. When you reopen it it should be the size you want.

Using a Dell " WS set to native at 1920x1200. Did not upgrade the drivers, but WIN7 indicated I already had the best driver. My video card is a Radeon X1300 and the latest driver is a Vista driver. No WIN7 driver will be made available.
It was a clean install.

Did not work for me.:(
Thanks for the suggestions.

Ok, problem solved.
It seems I was wanting to make IE a size it did not want to be. I was happy with its width, but I wanted it higher, so I was dragging it longer. It did not like that for some reason. Then Larry suggested dragging from the corner, which I did, but for some reason, it did not work.
I installed my new graphic card and drug from the corner, and it held. I don't think a graphic card should fix it, and it could just be a coincidence, but it is fixed.
Thanks for the help.
