Well the time has come after two years to say goodbye to Dish. It seems that Directv has been able to add my local channels first and as usual, Dish has no comment. All they will say is that they should or may be on line by the end of the year..if all goes well.

I hate to tell them, but that answer isn't a good enough reason to stay.

Wish you all the best..since it looks like Dish is wiling to give my market to Directv.

It is always best to go with the provider that serves you best. Even if that is cable. All the services have distinct advantages and disadvantages that very from market to market. People will tend to cheer for the service they have because they feel it does best for them in their market.

It is always best to go with the provider that serves you best. Even if that is cable. All the services have distinct advantages and disadvantages that very from market to market.I am an E* sub, but I promote both D* and E* to cable subs. The primary factors are whether they want sports or movie programming, and whether they want to switch at all if certain locals or other desired programming are not available on sat.

For example, here on the Georgia coast, about half-way between Savannah and Jacksonville, local Adelphia cable (ugh!) carries both Jax and Sav locals. For local viewers who prefer to watch Savannah locals for regional and state news, switching from cable to sat would not be a good choice because Sav locals are not available on sat.

People will tend to cheer for the service they have because they feel it does best for them in their market. Many people tout their own DBS provider and recommend products they have purchased, such as TV and HT gear, in order to validate their own personal buying decisions. Personally, I am reluctant to give advice based on my personal choices because, first what I like may not be right for someone else, and I don't want to be responsible and possibly lose (not loose) a friend if the advice, which is based on my needs, turns out to be wrong for that person.

Recently, I gave my daughter and her husband a Dish coupon. Not only did their small town, small-time furniture-store local dealer refuse to honor the coupon, but in addition, gave them bad (no) service after the install. Not only are they *pissed* at me for my questionable advice, but to make matters worse, I lost the benefit of a $5 per month service credit.

Enjoy. Just get a DVR as part of your DirecTV install. You'll be glad you spent the extra money.

I am afraid that is what may happen here, that we will lose a lot of customers and potential customers to DirecTv if/when they get the locals up before Dish does in my area. They plan on launching them by the end of the year in the 4th quarter and Dish was planning on releasing them in my area in the 3rd quarter but I dont know now so Dish has a chance here to get a head start if they do as they said they would do.
