Limbaugh will join ESPN-TV in September, industry sources reveal, during NFL Sunday Countdown
Does he know anything about football? Or is he going to comment on yet another topic he knows little about, like the military...
What, did they think Dennis Miller wasn't quite right-wing enough?

Sometimes even if they do not know much about the topic, someone popular enough or interesting alone would bring in ratings at least for a small amount of time.

If I remember right Rush got his start as a sportscaster, and does know a great deal about football. He was in the running with D. Miller for the Mon night job and it was down to the two of them. I for one think he knows a bunch more about the game than Miller. Now if he keeps his comments and thought to Football it will be a good addition. By the way, I do not listen to Rush on anything but the rarest of ocasion. I have hared him talk about the FB broadcasting opertunities back during the MNF debate. I think he should have had the job then over DM.

Why not put them both on there? That would make it real interesting.

Rush is an avid football fan and knows a lot about the sport and many of the players. He would make a great addition to the show. His political views will not be included in the broadcasts which is as it should be.

Thats right NEBUGEATER.
Just from random samplings of his radio show, yes, he does appear to know quite a bit about football . . . or at least about the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Tony Kornheiser, of all people, argued that Limbaugh was the choice ABC should have made three years ago, instead of Miller. I don't know about that, and I don't know how well he'd do in short spots, but I'll concede that the man is a professional entertainer.

Honestly, I don't see what Limbaugh will add that Miller didn't add. By the middle of the season, people will be saying with Limbaugh, "Why the heck did they even bother?" like they were doing with Miller.
RHL was a FM DJ in Pittsburgh (Jeff Cristie) during the Steelers 4 Super Bowl era. Later he was an employee of the Kansas City Royals in the promo department. He is quite knowledgable about pro football and baseball. During slow periods in politics he has several times talked about football on his show, and with serious insight.
Among his humor bits (Rush used humor much less lately) from his early days were a deal called the "39 Undeniable Truths of the Universe", most of which were about politics, but one of which was "the Pittsburgh Steelers of the Bradshaw Era were the greatest football team ever, period." Another bit was "politically correct picks" where he picked against the spread based on team nicknames (teams like Jets (poluters) and Cowboys (opressors of Indians) were bad.
Is ESPN hurting that bad for a sports commentator? Just add another reason to why I am not liking ESPN more and more as each day passes on. I am republican by the way but i don't care much for Limbaugh. First ESPN had Exclusive rights to Wednsday night games. Thank god that's over with. Then during the 2001 season they had the Center Field View during Sunday Night Telecasts which I hated and couldn't stand to watch when the camera shot was like that. Then ESPN 2 Started the Continuous Bottom Line leaving scores of other games to run at the bottom of the screen continuously. Sheesh. Really folks ESPN is getting S*itty in my opinion. No it had already gotten that way but Limbaugh gonna commentate on Football? Sheesh

I doesn't seem like a big deal right now. It is only a 2 minute spot during countdown. It is not like Miller when you had to listen to him for 3 hours.

Rush "feels the joy" of his DirecTV system when football season comes along, it the middle of football season it is not unusual to hear rus taking a few segments to talk football instead of politics.

I'm a Dennis Miller fan, but his rhythm didn't match up well with Fouts and Michaels. Also, most of his comments were too esoteric for most of the fan base and alienated too many people.
Rush could be interesting. I liked him years ago when he first started at WABC-Radio in New York, but I've lost interest since he went wide and got so bombastic. If he turns down the volume a little it could work.
