I'm not clear on this.....Will all HD programming be at the 105 slot using superDISH or will there be some at 61.5.
I never added the second dish?
All HD will be on Superdish. For some indefinite time, current programming will also be simulcast on 61.5 and 148. So the bottom line is, you'll need Superdish to get anything beyond DiscoveryHD, SHowtimeHD, HBOHD and CBSHD. Once you have Superdish, your 61.5 dish will be useless.

They way they made it sound eventually all HD will be moved off of the side slots onto 105. The side slots will be used mainly for smaller local channels.

Thanks Fred, thats what I thought.
My wife doesn't want me to add another Dish, so it looks like I'll wait for SuperDISH.
I really don't want another dish now just for 1 local.
I just want HD programming.....I'll wait on SuperDISH.

What happens to someone who wants to watch HD + Int'l programing?

There's going to be some interestring situations with satellite locations, what happens when someone wants core programming at 110 and 119, Sky Angel on 61.5, extra locals from 148, HD off 105 and foreign channels off 121. Yeah I know it's a rare situation, but it could happen :)

If the SuperDish is not coming out until 4th quarter then that means that the list of cities they promised to add 3rd quarter are either going to be delayed or added at 110 to be picked up by the Dish 500's.

I'm in the same situation. Apparently we have to get one Superdish and one regular dish with a FSS lnb.

Well, not quite. The lower rated locals on the wing-sats are going to remain there. So if you currently get some LILs there you'll keep the 61.5 dish.

That may be true unless they have an issue with the switching on multiple satellite locations and see it too expensive to keep those channels on the wing slots having to pay for those high priced switches and another dish and install to top it all off. Gets pretty complex when you use that many slots and there is more to go wrong as well.

So, if they put locals on the Superdish, Will the people needing it to get locals, get the Superdish FREE.
So many questions, so few answers. Sometimes I wish I were just
an ordinary, clueless sub who had no idea how all this stuff works,
and didn't really care to know. Life would be so much simpler.

Unless you have secondary local channels there that you watch (east coast viewers) or you subscribe to any internationals like TV5.

Could my 24" dish that I use for 61.5 be used for 105? If not, is an LNB update feasable?

You only get an upgrade for free is some of your locals are available without it but others are not. So if they put all of the locals for a market at the new site then they would not be obligated to give you an upgrade.

You probably will be able to use the 24 inch dish that you use for 61.5 and swap lnbf's with the type that is needed. I do not know what type of switching you would need if you wanted to also get 110 and 119 as well or 61.5 in addition to that.

I didn't know this! If this is the case, once again, the small town/rural people are shafted again. If I live in NY, I can get locals with no equipment purchase, hell, they'll give me another dish to pick up some 4th rate POS local station. But if I live in dma #99, and my locals go to 105, I'm paying out the ass probably for some huge monstrosity of a dish.
It's DirecTV / Pegasus all over again! :flaiming
