Distant Nets

Does anyone know if Dish plans to add any more distant nets cities in the future.

Probably none, and probably less than they offer now due to going to spot beams.

* Dish already has distant nets in every time zone.

* Dish has recently eliminated one longstanding distant net city (Dallas).

* The number of subs eligible for distant nets just took a major hit and is probably shrinking.

* As more local markets are covered, fewer subs want to pay extra for largely duplicative network programming.

* Dish's highest priority seems to be finding transponder space for more locals.

No one knows the future, but all indicators suggest Dish will not add new distant nets.

When all those grandfathered expired, there are going to be a lot fewer distants subs. Dish appears to be responding by adding markets as fast as possible and seems to be dropping distant cities.
