View Full Version : New Slimline install: no signal on 101 but 95% at 119?
This is a new install of the Slimline 5 LNB using a new 6x8 Zinwell switch going to 2 older receivers. Have no idea why I am getting 0% on the 101 but 95% on the 119. My receiver is set up correctly (5 LNB setting). I first tried adjusting the dish in every way possible for the 101 and the signal never moved above 0, so I peaked the 119 and left it there. What could be wrong?? NFL starts in a few hours and I got zilch!
Thanks!
First, wire directly from the dish to the receiver for aligning/testing. That takes unnecessary variables out of the problem.
Perhaps you are aimed at the wrong satellite. The 101 LNB will see signals from 110 and 119. If you are seeing most or all of the 32 transponders, you really are on 101. If you are seeing 3 transponders, you are aimed at 110. If you are seeing a half dozen or so transponders, you are aimed at 119. Move the dish in azimuth (left/right) slowly. The signal should drop off, then about 8 to 10 degrees away should find another signal. Repeat until you find the correct 101.

The top section of the mast must be perfectly plumb. Then reset the dish to the elevation and tilt given by the receiver for a Slimline 5 in your Zip code. Sweep left and right until you find 101; if you can't find it, move the elevation up one degree and try again, then down 2 degrees and try again, until you find it.
Well, I figured out what was wrong. I set the elevation using the center of the bolt (like my previous dish) at 35 degrees. I did not know that there is a red line that is supposed to be used instead which is about 10 degrees away from the bolt. I now have 101 at about 92%. Thanks for the responses & I can now watch the rest of Sunday football!
Glad you got it working ;)
