DirecTV installed a Slimline 5 at our vacation home which is our primary residence with Direct. After the installer left, I found he did a half-assed job and didn't mount the dish level resulting in sat 119 not being available at all. I fixed that today, but have another problem. I am not getting any signal at all on 103(c), even transponders. This occurs on multiple receivers. It continues if I remove all coax to the lnb and reconnect it. The coax from the receiver is connected directly to the dish lnb. I do not use an external multiswitch. All signal strengths from all satellites is above 90.

Problem has to be with the lnb unit, right? Is there anything inside that is user serviceable or do I just have to replace the lnb? I know I should have Direct come back out and swap it, but we are here so infrequently that would be a hassle. I just want to make sure that is my only option.

It might be the BBC also. How are your 99c levels?

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention 3 different base band converters. 99C ranges from 90 to 96.

Since the OP mentioned this occurring on "multiple receivers," I don't think it could be "the BBC."

What message do the receivers display on test channel 481?

When did the installer install the dish?

When did the installer install the dish?

It was a year ago :( It was never really a problem as the only channel it affected that I watch was Speed HD. I'd watch it in SD, so it never was a show stopper.

Pretty sure it's a problem with the integrated multiswitch in the dish LNB then in responding to a 18 vdc + 22 KHz tone control signal, since it's happening on multiple receivers all connected directly to it.

But just for additional confirmation how does test channel 493 read on the receivers?

Kind of looks like a bad LNB.

Do they sell that as a seperate part that I can swap myself?

Yes;

A "SL-3" or "SL-5" LNB. Just be careful not to order the SWiM type

For example here:

http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp?mc=02&p=SL3&d=DIRECTV-SL3-SlimLine-Four-Out-KaKu-Slim-Line-LNB-(SL3)&c=DIRECTV%20Dishes&sku=SL3

Or here:
