I had this issue last night and my wife called me at work this morning to report the same problem.

While a program was recording.... I hit the "Menu" button to set up another recording for later in the evening, then for some reason the 508 stopped recording the current program it was recording. Has anyone had this problem? My wife had the same problem this morning when she hit the "PVR" button while recording. This prevents us from watching a previously recorded program or even programming something else to record. I have not tested if other buttons stop the PVR from recording, this issue just came up last night and this morning.

I don't know my software version... but I'm pretty sure it's the latest update.

Sounds like your receiver needs a Reboot. Once a 501/508 receiver starts exhibiting problems or spurious errors like these it's usually cleared up with a reboot. Press the receivers front panel power button until both Green and Red LED's lite up, release the button and wait for the receiver to recycle. You can also get a reboot by pulling the Smart card and reseating it or pulling the power cord and waiting 15 seconds or so and then plugging the unit back in.

The reboot is fine..if you're not already recording something. I've had three lockups this week. Usually while recording and looking for something in the guide to record. I'll get the PVR menu "lite", meaning I'll see a transparent PVR menu with no shows listed. Some buttons function (cancel will show the channel banner) but, for the most part, it's locked up and needs a reboot.
