I just bought 2 used 501s off Ebay. I called E* to activate them. I'm getting all my cable channels and my locals. The weird part is I'm also getting HBO, a bunch of Latin channels and playboy Latino on one of them. The other one is receiving the right channels. I told the CSR about this when I was activating them. He said just wait 15 minutes and it'll clear up. well it didn't. I pulled the smartcard for a second then I got the message that it was the wrong smartcard. I pulled it again and put it back in. The IRD came back with all my channels and also the bouns channels. I know people that hack the E* get there cards zapped. Do you think I'll get zapped? I only have legal subs but I concerened E* will zap my smartcard.

It is possible that the 501 that is getting the bonus channels is hacked but it is also possible that the receiver was disconnected fron the sat feed before the previous owner canceled service. The card never received the de-sub commnd and therefore it still has the previous owners sub. I have a dishplayer that my buddy gave me and I still am receiving his subscription to the Everything Pack. If it is a hacked card, when E* sends out an attack it will disable the receiver, not the card.
Same thing to me. I had a 4900 shut down for a good few months when I first got my 501. I then plugged my 4900 back in, still had the old programming. Took a day before I had to call in and get the receiver reactivated. New programming took effect (locals), but till the day I am still subscribed to starz (which was from my old programming). I should call and tell them, but I don't feel too bad since we never watch stars anyway.
