thanks in advance for your help.
New construction install.. direct tv dish 5LNB in place.. i know i need a multiswitch to get to more that 8 tv's..... my question is how do i do that.. i need two lines to 6 tv's.. . do i need to hook up 2 multiswitches and if so, how do i do that, and what multiswitch should i use.. i want HD plus DVR for all 6 tv's.. that means 12 runs from the multiswitch.. your help is apprecitated.. diagrams would also help if possible.. thanks
BRAD
First, make sure the current 5 LNB dish is a regular (not SWiM) dish. It needs to have four coax lines coming from it (as opposed to one).
Run the four coax to a central point. Install four wide band, dual port power passing splitters. From the output of the splitters, connect two WB68 multiswitches OR two SWM-8 modules OR one of each. That will give you up to sixteen tuner capacity. It is critical that the outputs of a given splitter are routed to the same input on both multiswitches.
The WB68 requires that you run two coax to each DVR location for dual tuner capability. The SWiM only requires one coax to a DVR for dual tuner capability.
Do a little reading and searching on these forums for a lot of information on both configurations.

That is exactly what he is referring to. it allows for up to 16 tuners, or in your setting up to 8 dual tuner DVR's.

Since the WB616 is being phased out, you might need to go the eBay route: http://shop.ebay.com/items/zinwell+wb616+multiswitch?_dmd=2&_cpr=249
