View Full Version : Orignal RCA Receiver
I have a 1st Generation RCA receiver and am adding DTV to a new house and want to use it in a kids room.
Question
Does the 1st generation receivers still work with DTV.
Will it work with a phase 3 dish and pick up all 3 sats?

Work - proabably-
All 3 slots - probably not, unless it is a Plus.
Yes it will work but the 8 bit processor seems slower than molasses in the middle of winter. It is not a plus receiver so you can get a standalone switch if you really need 119 or 110. I've got a DRD103 still in use and except for the slow processor it still does the job as a basic receiver. I would bet if you contact directv you can get a discount on upgrading that old receiver, but you will probably have to agree to a 1 year contract.
