View Full Version : Trying to use Webtv remote to change channels on Dish receiver
Do any of you use Dish TV with WEBTV? I am trying to use a Sony W INT250 WebTV Plus, RCA TV, RCA VCR with the Dish TV with Echostar DP301 receiver. I can't get the Dish receiver to change channels using the web remote. There is a setup for Webtv using 3 different codes, but none work. I have it connected with coax. Satellite to Dish receiver-VCR-WEBTV-TV. Just wondering if I am doing something wrong or wasting my time trying.
Thanks for any help.
Harry
Go to the system information screen on the DP301 remote the address needs to be set to 1 for most universal remotes to work. The sys. info button is just below the blue buttons on the remote.
Went to system screen and remote is set on 2. How do you change it AND if I can change it to 1, won't that deactivate the Dish remote?
GO TO CHANNEL 101 and watch DISH will tell you how to use your system.
Went to channel 101, watched it, but didn't explain how to change from 2 to 1. Looks like all that system info was probably installed by Dish installer¿¿

The WebTv remote for Dishplayer will not work with any other Dish Network satellite receiver than the Dishplayer (7100, 7200).
I may not be making myself clear as to the remote I am trying to get to work. It is a RCA RT7W5XTW that I use with SONY W INT250 WebTV (MSN TV now).
Thanks for all the help.
Go down a couple of posts to one by wannabeswede your answer is there.

I believe this is the guidance:
Go back to the sys info screen.
the press the RECORD button on the remote,
the remote address should change to whatever the remote is programmed to.
And yes you can use a WebTV remore to controla DISH receiver. I think posting in the PVR forum foor a non PVR confused things.
Geronimo,
Would you tell me what I need to do to get the WebTV remote to control the channels on the Dish receiver.
Thanks, Harye

Ia m sorry but I thought the advice in the other thread was correct. it seems that you do not have the RECEIVER set to address one and that is the onlt adress that your remote will come preprogrammed for. If that thread does not help try calling 1 800 333 3474.
Finally got it to work. Thanks to all that helped me with this.
Yes, the solution was to have the remote address set on 1 and then the code supplied by the Webtv's Setup worked.
Again, Thanks!
