Can't get remote's to change ID

So I've tried the "Hold the Sat button until lights flash, put in number, push #, push record", it changes the remote's id but not the remote id on the receiver. I am at the sys info screen, i put in id 02, push #, push record. The remote id on the screen doesn't change but now the remote doesn't work any more (I assume remote's id has changed to 02). I have even tried unplugging one of the receivers and going through all permutations listed here on the other receiver.

Any ideas? Dish says to take out the Smart Card and do it but no joy.

Go back to the sys info screen.

the press the RECORD button on the remote,

the remote address should change to whatever the remote is programmed to. :)

I assume I can leave smartcard in?

Yes, you leave the smart card in the receiver the whole time you do this process.

Worked great! Just needed to do the Receiver change as a separate step and it worked.
