Anyone know what the cheapest package is? The Directv website doesn't seem to like to give actual numbers.

From what I can find, the international base packages are the cheapest. But is it possible to even subscribe to one of those (say the Preferred Choice Package) without subscribing to any of the other international add-ons?

Currently been unemployed for a few months and am in my next round of scaling back things, so Directv is the next to go. Trying to see if I can still get the bulk of channels if I switch to a different package, but the only one thats really cheaper is the International Preferred Choice (between $19.99 and $35.99 depending on where you see it)

Also, anyone know if an HD-DVR will still let you record HD ota if you no longer have the HD package? I assume it will, but want to be sure.

You can sub to an international base package but you also have to sub to an add'l international package. The only reason the international base exists is so that an international package can sit on top of it.

The cheapest package is the family pack at $29.99. Some Customers appear to be getting the old 'Select Choice' package which was $32.99 and is probably $39.99 now.

While I would agree that it should, I don't believe it will. If you're not getting HD, then you're not getting HD, I believe that applies to OTA as well.
