Here is the official press release (http://www.cablevision.com/index.jhtml?id=2003_07_17) from Cablevision about the successful launch. What I found interesting was this:
"We are extremely proud of the total system solution we have delivered today for Cablevision," said Ted Gavrilis, president, Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems. "Our A2100 satellite and the ILS-provided Atlas V make a powerful combination for mission success, and we are proud to be part of launching a new direct-to-home service for Cablevision."
and this: The A2100 geosynchronous spacecraft is designed to meet a wide variety of telecommunications needs, ranging from Ka band/broadband services to fixed satellite services in a Ku-band payload configuration to high-power direct broadcast services using the Ku-band frequency spectrum.
It looks like they will have a hybrid DBS/DTH service on 61.5 which will greatly add to their channel capacity there. Now does anyone know or care to speculate which CA system they will use? If they want to get any of the SA* subs I assume they will have to use Kudeleski. Perhaps they will hold off on rolling out their new service until E* has distributed the new Dish500 cards?
