If this is true and Dick Enberg will be doing play-by-play for 4 San Diego next year, DirecTV best be getting all their feeds on the Extra Innings package.

That's funny. I would be watching a lot more Padre games too, if they would show more of their home telecasts instead of all the away feeds. Hopefully getting Enberg will push them into showing more 4 San Diego telecasts.

It would have been better if he had taken Joe Buck's job.
Can we please send Buck and Brent Musberger to an island where they can only hear each other?

Padres should team Enberg with Jerry Coleman. See if they ever call a play correctly.

Give the hell up!!! All of us Padres fans are screwed till the Cox Cable exclusive contract expires with the Padres. We have another two years to wait. I already jumped on the Padres at the start of this season about the SD4 games not being avail this year unlike the last years. The Padres responded back to me " we expect to move to a programming source that will be avail on MORE platforms" So we got two more years of this crap to deal with

Bingo... you're not going to see this on MLBEI because SD4 won't distribute their source content to anyone else. Gotta love specialized local affiliates that give teams a "deal they can't refuse" - it's after the deal is done when the team realizes what a mess they created for themselves.
In 2009 the only time Padres feeds from COX4 were available was when there was no other feed available from San Diego's opponent. The feed was available, but not every day. There was a time when the Cubs were playing San Diego. No Cubs feed was available on Comcast Sportsnet Chicago or WGN, It was on WCIU in Chicago only. Therefore we got San Diego 4.

The SD4 feed has been on MLBEI the last two seasons. The only difference this year was that it was only on when there was no HD feed available from the opposing team. For the 08 season, MLBEI did show all SD4 feeds regardless of what other HD feeds were available.

This should be avoided at all costs on the off-chance that they figure out how to breed.

The good news is Cox has already said they will not renew a tv contract with the Padres. Im trying to guess that either the Padres will either end up making their own network or yet maybe one of the Comcast/Fox rsn's will start carrying the games when this crap is finally over
Signing Enberg to do TV gives the Pads more legitimacy that the team they put on the field.

This is what I am hoping for too. Maybe another Fox RSN. Call it FSN West 2 or something like that.

thats what gets confusing. Wasnt there already a Fox Sports West 2 already??? Yet it seems so stupid to have to fully create a new rsn just to cover one mlb team. Dont even have a nba or nhl team to cover in that area.

Yes, it's now called Prime Ticket -- it's the channel that carries the Dodgers, Clippers, and Ducks.

You're right about no pro team other than the Padres. But you could have college sports as well (like SDSU basketball/football and USD basketball/football).
The thing I know is the new Padres ownership is not very fond of the current TV deal with Cox Cable. So they will go another direction when their contract is up after the 2011 season.:)

Turned out it wasn't the Padres who were going to have to change. Cox had already decided they were not going to renew thank goodness. I screamed via email at the Padres about this issue especially after Cox wouldn't let us see the SD4 games via MLB Extra Innings. Thats when they told me everything that was mentioned above. Have to admit though I was still a bit suspicious if DTV had something to do with that problem this year. Never did hear anyone who subscribes via the internet if they could get the SD4 telecasts or not

He's just getting too old, used to be great. When I moved to Socal in 1963 he was doing UCLA basketball and the Thursday night fights. That's 46 years ago. He and Drysdale were a great team for Angels radio broadcasts later on.

I know all this is a matter of opinion, on who is good and who isn't, but in my opinion Enberg is still better than the guy that had last year. For that matter he is still better than the majority of radio and TV guys out there for every other team. It seems any more they are all cut out of the same mold. They are all bland with no personality and all sound like kids just coming out of college.

So, I finally got the chance to get Directv, so I am stoked about getting MLB EI again (Had it with Dish...then they took it away...A-HOLES!!!)
Anyway, So, will I get all Padre games or not? (I'm in St. Louis)
Oh My!
 classic. He's known for those "oh my's" as long as I remember listening to the guy calling games.

Yes you will. The real question though is: will you get all 4SD feeds? Who knows, it depends on what DirecTV decides to do this upcoming year.

Ok, so more specifically...Will I get Padre games broadcasted by the Padres announcers on Directv if I have MLBEI?
(What did they do last year?)

Some, but not nearly the majority of them. That is the reason why I started this thread. Two years ago they carried the 4SD games. Last year they were few and far between.
