It is becoming so hard to take...these directv commercials of late. At least right now my dvrs are functional but I feel no reliability from them. It is though time to fix audio issues once and for all. We all know the problems and nor do I want the Directv reply and denial testimony. Its old and tired and yet Im sure our bills are going up again soon. I do believe if they do increase our sub rates, more will leave than Directv saw in years. And as my subject states thats all I want...and I would be happy to pay my bill!

What "problems" are you referring to?

I want CLTV on direct tv and maybe missing Chicago OTA HD but I can get that on OTA. But you can't get CLTV like that.
What is this thing you speak of... "commercial". I don't think I've seen one of those in years. :D

I am curious as to which specific problems the OP is referring to.

OP mentions audio dropouts, but I suspect he's got some other problems, too.

My problems are the audio issues most of us suffer, as in fox or during the game on Sundays be it your local carrying it or watching NFL Sunday Ticket. The newest is picture freeze for a few seconds and audio rolls along. The brrrppp problems are just a blame game yet these continue. I go as far back as Primestar and quality of service was great 24/7 even Directv. People have to look at how long these issues have went unresolved, I know exactly how long. Status from Directv is "engineering is working on it". First they take you down the quote,,,"what problems are you having" when they know exactly what problems. And then comes the truth maybe! As far as commercials go be it their inserted ones or some you see during football they act superior in everything...I want superior picture and sound without flaws that never go away. Thats the end of my rant.

I think the highlighted area is your key information.
Many others have heard issues with FOX transmissions. In most cases, it comes down to how your local Fox station is retransmitting your stream.
We had that problem here a couple years back, and after actually calling and speaking with the head engineer at the local Fox affiliate station, he indicated that their equipment was new, they were still "tweaking it", and they appreciated hearding the "feedback from the field" on these issues.
You may want to call your station and let them know about your experience. DirecTV can only broadcast the content the are given as a feed.

FOX, for whatever reason, is poor at sports. It's such a shame they have the World Series and the BCS games.
FOX's poor technology probably is causing the OP's issues. I see the same type of thing OTA here in Philly (a FOX owned and operated station)

It's not just Fox. I've had audio dropouts on both local ABC and CBS stations. The brrrp's seem to have disappeared but the lack of soundtrack is still annoying. It's not to the point of giving up on DirecTV, at least not yet.
I think the highlighted area is your key information. While you keyed in on a possible Fox affiliate problem, you seem to have overlooked the brrrppp complaint. It sounds like the OP is concerned that DIRECTV is overlooking it too.

Only problem is I have is on my old HR20's the audio almost never matches up with the video, anyone know how to fix that????Could you be more specific about several key points of discussion:
1. What method of producing sound are you using (TV, AVR, surround sound system)
2. Is this one particular channel, a class of channels (ie all locals) or all channels?
3. Is the problem intermittent or constant?
