i am having problems since recovering from the sdDrop.c virus

whenever i try to open internet explorer, i get an error message saying "c:\windows\system32\shdocld.dll/dnserror.htm" with the standard "this page cannot be displayed screen?!?!?!?!?

also when i restart my puter, as soon as i log on, i get a message box saying that "system32.exe" is missing. this is true, as i deleted it as part of removing the above mentioned virus. what is system32.exe? part of int. explorer????

I had a similar situation. You might weant to look a tthe thread "What is system32.exe?" It hasa lot of useful info. Too much to synopsize for you.

i looked at that, but it fails to answer the key question- what is system 32......

I don't know how you can say that. It certainly answered it for me. I suggest you try the links for a more thorough explanation but basically the file was put there by a worm. Somewhere in your registry or in an ini file you will find a line that launches it.

I described the same situation you are describing. I eventually found the line and deleted the referemce. I really suggest you check it again.
