Well folks, it looks like we have survived. Let me tell you, things could have been a lot worse. On the old server, backups were only being run every week or so. When we moved to our new server, I had direct access to the auto backup feature and set it to make backups every morning around 6AM EST. Now I'm glad I did!

The good news is that this is the first time this has happened in our 2+ years of existence and we only lost about 9 hours of messages. Not bad considering we have changed servers 2 times.

My thanks again goes out to our gold members who helped us move to a place which allows us to recover from something like this. Way to go!!!

Great news... I don't think I posted anything in that time that is the least bit relevant or even interesting.

Glad to see you where having a great monday! !Devil_lol

Actually this bump was a good thing we now have a procedure set in place just in case this ever happens again. :D

Sometimes we like challenges, especially on Mondays.

Does this database crash also affect the votes for the Amazing Race contest?

What's the hardware configuration again? Surely that's not classified informaiton. ;)

No it shouldnt unless they voted between 6 am 3 today.

Without going into details the error was human. :)

The DBSTalk server is fine and dandy. :D

That explains it. You forgot to feed the hamster. The hot weather is not a excuse.

I was trying to find a picture of a crowbar to show you how I got the CPU out of the Dishplayer, but this is what google images gave me... Any ideas why?

I am just curious, did the post count get reset back to what it was as of 6 AM EST this morning after the server was recovered at 3 PM EST or did it count those posts that were posted between those two times?

James_F

It did not count those posts since they were never made. You'll have to repost anything you posted.

Have a good thought or just good spam. ;)

Love the "similar threads" at the bottom of this thread.

Lol, that is funny about those similar threads at the bottom. I done reposted many of the posts since I still have the search results that I had before the crash. I did not post that much myself anyways before the crash and did not post hardly anything during that time, thankfully.

Nick posted something in the Potpourri Fourm in the 'Be brave, post a picture of yourself' thread that can't be forgotten.
It wasn't...I reminded him. :hurah:
Will he have the balls to respond with his picture? :sure:
Check it out.
