I have posted this question on a couple forums, and can't get no satisfaction...I have a winter home in Mexico, 500 mile below Nogales, and installed a quality setup a few years ago. I couldn't get but a couple channels in English, and when I was playing around trying to bring in the wrong sats, I blew something up in my Viewsat Ultra; cost me 80 bucks, and I never hooked it back up. I'm going back down in a couple weeks, and would like to get a couple things squared around first.
I have tried several different dishes to 36", with marginal results. A friend gave me a 6 foot antenna, made from solid fiberglass. I think it was used in KU system. I tried several LNBs, and got a fantastic signal, but no quality, and didn't receive any picture of any kind. I tried different LNB positions, etc, but nothing.
Can I make this antenna work? What am I doing wrong?
Have I missed anything about this hobby in the last two years I should know about?
Has anyone come up with a way to make phone calls by satellite, as we still don't have phone service in town.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
