I'm having a problem with a 501. I'm always losing signal on just that one receiver. My other 501 is running fine. I can see digital breakups then "acquiring signal". The problem happens more than not. The "acquiring signal" message goes away after a second or two. I can even see the signal loss on the meter in the installtion menu. I tried taking out the card, flip-flopping the sat. ins with my other 501, and I tried resetting the unit by holding down the power button on the chassis. I also had pros come to my house to re-align m dish. They said it was a problem with the receiver. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this? If it matters, I'm running 2 receivers pointed at 110 & 119 with an SW 64.

Thanks

DISH Network offers an extended warranty for $1.99. You must be covered under it for 1 month before putting in a claim. Call 1-800-333-3474 and order it now if you don't already have it you're going to need it.

How much space do you have left on your hard drive? I have had some of the same problems when I have an hour or less left. I cleared space off, powered down and pulled the card and it was fine. 501 going thru sw21 switch.

The HD is almost empty. I'll have to sign up for that plan. Thanks for the advise.

Bypass the sw-64 switch. Then after doing that unplug both receivers and swap them putting one where the other was at, do a check switch test, and see if that receiver still does it. This checks to see if it is the wire or the switch. If that same receiver does the same thing as it had before it means the tuner has went bad and the receiver needs to be replaced. When you call in for the warranty do not mention any problems. After 4 weeks call in and explain the problem and get the replacement.

My 501 receiver died - I couldnt get any signal anymore after a nearby lightning strike. My 6000 was fine (thank god). They sent me another and its receiver died in 3 days - this time, I couldn't get some transponders on 110, again other receiver fine. Too bad, it was a nice quiet unit. So I dont know why those receivers are so sensitive.

Anyway, when my first 501 died and I called, they offered me the warranty and covered it AFTER THE FACT! They didnt say there was a 4 week period. As long as I signed up for the warranty then I only had to pay for S&H.
