On my SWM-8 install, I will have the swm-8 in parallel with the zinwell wb68, which are close to the dish and all three are grounded using the same grounding rod.

The sws 1x4 splitter will be around 75 ft from the swm-8 in the attic. How important is it to have the sws 1x4 splitter grounded if the dish and the swm-8 and wb68 are grounded with the same ground wire outside?

I assume it is ok to use the same grounding rod for the dish, the swm-8, and WB68 connected in parallel with the SWM-8?

Right now, my channel master OTA antenna is in my attic, and grounded via a grounding block that the rg6 goes through about 50 ft away on the side of my house.

If I now run the OTA antenna to the swm-8 which would be grounded, do I need to be concerned with grounding at the OTA antenna itself as I am not sure how to accomplish that from the attic?

worst case scenario, I am ok losing equipment during a strike, etc, but with the splitter and antenna in the attic, and not directly grounded, want to make sure not grounding them directly would pose any risks in the attic.

Also, since the PI is after the splitter, it will connect to the power passing out port of the splitter, then to the DVR, correct? If the PI was before the splitter, that power pass port can be used for any DVR.

Currently, the PI will be after the splitter (about 50ft) at one of the DVR's in a bedroom.

Also, for the OTA diplexer, my OTA antenna does not have an amplifier, and I think I may have the wrong diplexers for my OTA signal to my HR21's.

On solid signals site, they list the NAS STD -9501 diplexer as swm compatible, which I noticed only has power passing on the SAT side. I have the "directv" approved perfect vision PVDP-2pp diplexer which is rated at 2-2400mhz, but is power passing at both sides. Can I use this diplexer for the OTA signal to my dvr's in my swm-8 set up?, Does it matter if the OTA/TV in/out on the diplexer is power passing, or should I go with the NAS 9501 which is only power passing on the sat side.

thanks in advance....

You should have only one grounding point in the whole system; it isn't necessary for the SWM splitter to be grounded since the switches already are.

Your diplexers should be one-side-power-passing only.

thanks.. I will get the NAS std 9501 diplexer since only the sat side is power passing, but I also just noticed the NAS std 9501 "combines" two signals.

If I am using this to "separate" the sat and ota signals from the one run from the swm-8, and using the diplexer right at the dvr receiver, I assume this is ok, thanks again.
