I have a PVR, yet I would like to see West Coast feeds of several channels such as F/X and Cartoon Network.

Also, there are several channels that are carried by the cable companies that are not presently being carried by EITHER DBS Provider. These include:

* C-SPAN 3 (Can't be used as PI channel)
* Goodlife TV
* The International Channel (the only channel I miss from having cable)
* Nick Toons

And, some suggestions won't take that much bandwidth because they are mono audio channels. These channels include:
* C-SPAN Audio
* Yesterday USA Radio (http://www.yesterdayusa.com)
* BBC World Service Audio

I'd like to see locals for my area.

I'd also like to see Nicktoons TV, since they show some the older Nicktoons that I grew up watching.

And as a student of German, some German-language internationals would be nice, but I suspect there's probably not enough interest, and they'd probably be prohibitively expensive for someone like me anyway.

Way more South Asian channels. I mean we already pay $50 for 5 channels; I don't mind paying $75 for a few more channels like Doordarshan or StarAsia. Pump up the number of international channels; the customers are there.

Less compression please. I feel like I can play Legos with some of the pixilation I see at times and my signal strength is at 100%. Also get the full suite of HBO/Cinemax channels like my cable company offers on Digital Cable. There is no excuse to fall behind the Cable guys Charlie!!!

1) Less compression
2) ESPN-HD before superdish

And I know these are not incompatible requests.

PBSKids added to all packages and I would pay for a premium BBC package (BBC1, 2, Channel 4 and ITV at least).

I would love to see SOFTWARE THAT WORKS on DISH Network!! Also picture quality like I used to see not constant problems with freezes, digitization, artifacts. I just switched to Directv to try and get back to a working system.

I don't see artifacts and digitization with Dish and it only freezes on the 721 when it reboots. Now I do see a lot more of these problems with Directv which I also have. Directv also looks a little more washed out on the channels when I compared Houston locals on both services on the same channel. But all and all I do admit that there are a lot more software problems ( Dishplayer fiasco) with Dish .

I would like to see receivers come out in which have a serial port in which allows for upgradability vs. having the whole receiver replaced especially with these expensive PVR and HD receivers. They could use them to have additional hard drives added to the receiver I would think if someone wants more hard drive space, or more memory for more features and software. Just think of the possibilities. Even if you could connect them to a computer you may be able to get other functionality through a computer with it.

Hey, I have 2 receiver like that: the 4000. All that port was ever used for was for Dolby Digital, HD 9on the 5000) and a computer interface for a couple of expensive data services: Ag Cast & Signal. Both have sincve been dropped, they cost ~$70/mo. :eek:

You forgot Channel 5.

Another great package Dish could have is a Canadian pack, with A-Channel, CBC, CTV, and Global.

How about a receiver that could connect to the Internet and pull down the Weather Channels local condition/forcast info so it would be just like if you were on cable vs. the generic national forcast?

Steve Mehs

Yes, there's localized weather on channel 9500 or Dish Home->2->1. There's more cities to choose from in Dish Home over 9500.

OpenTV's weather stinks. I'd rather have the local forcast info seamless intergrated into the Weather Channel just like the cable folks get.

What would I like to see:
local weather/interactive (on my 721)
local radar
PBS kids
... (hey, just more....)

and the freedom to shop my personal choice of local channels. I know that last one is out of Dish's hands and in the capable (choke, gasp) hands of our elected officials. But being a transplant to my current home, I would really like to get local program from my original home town (primarily news/sports, but I'd pay for the entire city package if allowed) so I can follow my home team(s), ... etc. Oh well....

I would like the ability to pick and choose cable channels with out moving up to a more expensive system. :lol:

San Diego: local UPN and independent channels -- or the ability to get a UPN west coast at no additional cost. (The UPN station, XEUPN-TV broadcasts from Baja California, Mexico; not a must-carry.) :)

And, (begin pipe dream) the ability to order a pizza over the remote for delivery ....
