I just saw a story on KELO-LAND News (Sioux Falls local) that the ACN shopping network on DISH could be scamming people of their identities. :eek2:

This lady called ACN when she saw something she wanted, and gave her credit-card # and other info to the operator. After that was done, the operator hung up on her. :eek2: When she called them back, ACN said they had no record of her call, even though she did.

It also reported that the BBB and Attorney General's offices in Tennessee (where ACN is based) and South Dakota have numerous complaints about ACN, which all sound similar.

The story is not on their website yet (http://www.keloland.com) but soon will be.

Now I believe that DISH should remove this channel and replace it with PBSkids.

We actually had a discussion in the Directv forum about a similar subject here. (http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=16737) Like I said there, other than QVC and HSN (maybe ShopNBC too), I wouldn't trust a shopping network as far as I can throw them. With the advent of the internet, why does anyone even watch these things anymore?

Well, I understand you shouldn't trust a shopping network hosted by a Hoppin' Mad Hillbilly (SMN). But this is kind of different, as ACN could see some legal action in the future.

I'd go back to my old IBM 100Mhz machine in a heartbeat before I would ever buy a computer off of the tv.

Heh, I have an IBM like that. It only has a 30mb hard drive, monochrome monitor, 3.5in disk, and Win 3.1. What a deal. (got it from rummage. works. might sell it on ebay eventually .)
