View Full Version : Can't cancel programming online?!
Haven't run into this problem - Can't cancel Sports Pack online, directed to call the 800 531 5000 number. On hold now 26 minutes and counting.

They removed the ability to cancel online, now you have to call.
I prefer the ability to add, cancel and make modifications online. They probably changed it so they have an opportunity to convince you not to drop the package or to offer you something else. I canceled a premium the other day and it took a while to get it done between the automated system, the wait time and trying to get me to keep the premium or take advantage of other offers.

Yes, it's been this way for over a year now. Surely they want to try and convince you to keep stuff, so they've made it hard to drop services.

I also tried to cancel Starz on-line. I saw that you can only call. I don't have time to be on hold all day so I emailed them. No response, so if they don't cancel it it is their problem. I will keep my sent email for my records. The ball is in their court.

Ditto. DTV is like the mafia. They don't care if they are right or wrong. They'll get the money one way or another from you.

I got something similar - Wanted to drop the sports package which I think runs $8 per month with the other premiums I have
Tried to cancel on line - Had to call - Was offered a $10 credit for 6 months to keep it
That's kind of a no brainer to me - Don't understand it, but I took it
And, no I didn't call him a chick...........

I called to drop the sports pak, and ended up with Starz, Encore AND the sports pak for the same price as the sports pak for 6 months. They must get paid per sub for the sports channels, and get the movie channels for a flat rate.

I had the same kind of situation in the spring when I wanted to cancel sports pack.
I sent an e-mail to complain about the wait, got a response within a few hours, still had to call to cancel (which this time got through in only 2 minutes), plus gave me Showtime free for 3 months. Now all I have to do is remember to cancel it then.
Oh, tried to offer me Sports Pack at a discount of $5. off per month for 6 months. I really only keep it for college football season, though.

I wonder if having to call to cancel has anything to do with people going on line to cancel certain services and accidentally cancelling everything or something.
I'm not so convinced that having to call to drop some services is so much designed to give people the hard-sell (as witnessed by the freebies some people get when they do call) as it is to avoid all the problems caused by people screwing things up when they could do it themselves, then having to call and get things fixed. (DBSTalkers excepted, of course ;)).

Just check those channels after the 90 days is up to be sure.
