Was trying to figure a good way to word the subject...

I have two HR-20's that pick-up my OTA channels just fine, but I was wondering if I cancel my local channels from my D* service will the IPG/DVR still work or does D* block the guide information?

Unless you have an account that has an old package where locals are listed seperately you cannot remove them.

Guide data should still load for that market if you can remove them.

Last I knew you can opt out of your locals for a $3.00 monthly reduction in your bill.

I have TC+ and the last time i called to to do it i would lose my grandfathering and be paying a couple bucks more; lose few channels, and maybe a commitment.

So i just unchecked them and if the antenna gets blown off the roof i can just check them again.

You cannot drop local channels unless your package says Total Choice Plus w/o locals and then Local Channels seperately.

I don't know if OTA locals would work without locals on your programming.

However, the current policy is that if locals are available to you, they are included. The only way to get the $3 reduction is if there are no locals available at your location. It is no longer possible to opt-out of locals when they are available.

They'll work just fine...

True

False

But you have to play CSR Roulette until you get one who knows how to access the non-LiL version of your package. Unless something has changed within the last 6 months, this is definetly still possible. Finding someone who is trained on where the packages are at... YMMV.
