For the past couple weeks I've had an issue with one of the ESPN scroll bars position on my TV. It's happening right now during the Minny vs. Purdue basketball game for you to check out.

At the very bottom of the screen, it's off by about 3 pixels or so below the main gradient bar below the actual scroll bar. You can see the same picture underneath it as your watching above the bar.

Now it doesn't happen every time, for instance if you switch to a commercial it goes away and the bar is aligned properly. I know it's not an over-scan issue, as it goes away during commercials and other programs. So I'm guessing on one of their production computers cause it happens like every other program or so. Anyone else seeing this?

I just see the grey that they always fill it in with.

i see it on mine, however, the below-the-bar video is not an exact replication of the above-the-bar video, but showing exactly what should be at the bottom of the screen given where the camera is pointing at the time. like i can see perfect continuation of the baselines, free throw lines, etc. i've noticed it for a while now, but it never bothered me.

What is your overscan set for?

i've noticed during commercials that ESPN HD "zooms out" a bit so the commercial video is taking up less screen realestate and black bars appear on both sides of the commercial video...the scroll bar still takes up the full width of the TV display and "extra space" below it is now occupied with black. as soon as ESPN HD switches back to the sports programming, the screen "zooms in" for a few seconds until the full display is now occupied by the game programming. the extra space below the scroll bar now displays the whatever is at that position as given by the camera angle.

I have NATIVE set to ON, and FORMAT set to ORIGINAL.

Does anyone know why ESPN started doing this during commercials? Just curious.

...not a DirecTV issue.

Because ESPN's graphics during their games or telecast are designed not to have any text that would be covered up by their bottom line. Commericials have text that are at the bottom of the screen that would be covered up or cut off by their bottom line if the didn't "zoom out". That's why. :D

I know it's not a D* issue. Thanks for the explanation FenixTX, it makes a lot of sense.
