View Full Version : Legacy remotes changing on their own
Reported on Dealers Den. "I have had 4 calls today with receivers changing channels on their own. The complaint is that the receiver just races through the channels and won't stop or respond to the remote. One guy called E* and they told him it was their problem and they were working on it. All complaints are on Legacy receivers. 2700/2800/3700/3800/3900. Anyone else hearing anything similar?" 6 other dealers reported similar complaints. I have had two complaints myself. Another dealer questioned why DISH couldn't notify dealers or use channel 101 to notify customers about problem. I guess if DISH notified us of their problems they might lose to many customers or they would have to have a continous crawl on 101 listing all their faults.
I now find that my showroom PVR-508 is jumping channels if I try to channel up. This problem is expanding.

I've got the same problem. You can take the batteries out and the channels just keep changing. The csr I talked to said this is on going problem and that they have had alot of calls recently. She said that they would send some download or something but that was a couple days ago and its still doing it.

I have the same problem, but its directly related to my Plasma TV. The picture appear to cause IR interference. While changing channels, it will begin to race through as if I was holding down either the up or down buttons.
I have found that if turn off the plasma screen, the Dish receiver will resume normal behavior. The cheap work around is to supposedly cover the IR receiver on the dish STB with masking tape. This will filter out the Plasma IR interferrence, but all the remote to continue to work. I haven't tried it though.

I have had this problem in the past with my 2700, I have a pyramid sitting in front of the ir window, my problem mostly cleared up when I re-positioned my pyramid some.

Didn't happen to me just yet.
Happened to me, 2700 went into channel cylcing until I pulled the smart card. Thought is was time to replace 5 year old receiver, but I guess I'll wait now to find out if this is a software problem.
