I have E* with a dish 500 and when I go to certain channels it will have an error message saying it cannot find signal but if I check the signal strength I am getting like 114-117 on those transponders. I tried switching cables and it work and I hooked the old cable back up and it worked for a few hours then went off again. The dish csr thought it was the lnb. Does that sound like what it is?

Sounds like the first cable is bad. Most likely it's the connectors, if it works all the time on the second cable. By connecting and disconnecting the first cable, you might have moved something to achieve good contact, and contact becomes lost through heating and cooling or wind movement of the cable. It could also be rain or moisture.
