I swear that when I first got my 722 on power up, the power indicator light on front came on right away and then it booted.

However the past 6 months or so it sits there for what seems like 3 or 4 minutes doing nothing. I have reset, pulled the card, and pulled the power cord, and it still does nothing unless I walk away and come back. Then all by itself, it powers up and goes through the acquiring satellite screen.

Is this normal after some upgrade maybe? Or has it always sat with no lights for a while before coming on?

Oh yeah ... I should mention, that it does get power right away since the external hard disk light comes on almost right away. Jut no lights on the 722.

Someone is gonna ask why I power it off. Not my favorite choice! Usually it is because the recording play back gets hung or the video gets choppy and won't correct itself. Last night's power recycle was because choppy video with perfect audio started yesterday morning, and after seeing it again in the evening on all shows I tried to play back, I had to do a 5 second power button reset. This time, I just sat there and stared at it. It took like 2-3 minutes, and finally just powered up.

My best guess is that maybe it was doing some kind of file system check? Dish should put something on the screen saying that so we don't keep trying to reset it again and again to get it to get a power on light!

Or, am I about to get a new receiver. :(

Except for the choppy video, this is the way mine works.

Since you got your 722, dish sent new bootloader at least once, so the current behavior could be explained by the new FW.
