I recently had to retire my 508 after a dish mover because our new house can only pick up eastern arc and it seems that means those satellites require newer mpeg4 receivers. So I already own a 622 and am planning on purchasing a new unit, while I would love to wait for a 922 that wont fly with the wife. so was wondering if there are any advantages, not just specs because I know how to read those, but from daily and long term use of one unit over the other. Thanks all for any help and guidance.

Not sure what you're looking for here. Since you're familiar with the specifications, are you wanting performance data? One thing to mention is the 622 isn't exactly 100% compatible with EHD's. Lots of folks reported that issue. That's why I was forced to upgrade to a 722 with very much success. That's the main, if only, reason I would steer away from the 622.

The other reason is that the youngest 622 already has 2 years of use, with the older ones having 3+ years. A 722 is going to have 1-2 years of use, and has a strengthened HDMI connector, due to 622s having fragile HDMI connectors.

Only 722k's are available new.

I know you can read specs, but just to mention in case OTA is important to you, the 722K with the OTA module gives you an additional tuner. With the 622 & 722 you can only record 3 programs at once. With the 722K OTA module you can record 4 programs at once.

It's dependable of revision of the device. Latest (after Rev E) working fine and HDMI connector holding well by additional screw .

Yes you can record 4 shows with 722k if you have a OTA module connected, 2 dish tuners and 2 OTA tuners.
