So, we're now less than two weeks away from the first ESPN-HD preseason NFL game. I've said since the beginning that I won't give E* another dollar once I start missing HD NFL games.

I've been e-mailing Dish every day, with occasional form-letter responses.

Is there any chance of getting it pre-Superdish?

Anyway, as a contigency I've started pricing D* equipment. Seems that you can get an E86 (D* Low-end HD reciever) & the dish for $350 for new subscribers. Does anyone have any experience installing the 3LNB dish? Is it harder to point than the Dish 500? Just trying to figure out whether I can do this myself or do I need to factor in time to installation before the start of the regular season.

Thanks,
Jim

I agree with you I will be really ticked but not suprised if they don't have ESPN HD once football starts. I've also been emailing them all the time about it. WE SHOULD ALL send Dish constant emails stating we NEED ESPN HD before football at least before the regular season ideally before the preseason. I would LOVE ABC HD too for Monday Night Football.

Not to sound like a prick and a pessimist but I think you know that *E* isn't going to have any new HD until late September at the earliest. If I were to guess, I say it's going to be more like November or December. That's a great time to go up on your roof if you live in the mid west. At this point in time the only new HD we know for sure to be added when the Superdish comes out is HDNET and HDNET movies. Anything else being discussed is speculation and maybe wishful thinking.
If Hd football is that important to you and it's only going to cost you 385.00 to switch to *D* I say go for it. I assume you have a 6000 currently. Sell the 6000 on ebay and you just may break even on the deal. I can't believe what people pay for used 6000's on ebay. Check it out for yourself.

If you are a new subscriber, Directv will install the dish for you. It's not an option, they require a pro install. The sooner you call, the quicker they will get to you :)

If you think the installer is screwing up, the triple-LNB dish is no harder to setup than a Dish 500 so you can easily correct it yourself.

They could give us a free preview on the HDEvents or Demo channel if they were smart.

No they can't. Why do people think just because it is HD that the normal broadcast rules don't apply? Do you honestly think that ABC/ESPN would let Dish broadcast games on their special events channel, without an agreement, just because its in HD? Sorry but ABC/ESPN/CBS/Fox spent alot of money for the broadcast rights to the NFL games and their is now way you will see them until Dish finally adds ESPN.

I think the point was involving ESPN-HD only. It is almost a certainty the DishNet will carry ESPN-HD and it will be on the 105 satellite and we will need the SuperDish to receive it. Many of us think that the deal is made with ESPN and that it is being held back until 105 is fully lit. If that were the case, they could indeed show the pre-season football on the Events Channel just like they will show the HD-Net Cart Racing beginning August 1st.
