I have a 53 inch RPTV from Pioneer which is HDTV Ready. I have never experienced HD but am planning to once Dish gets its act together.
How good is the quality on the DishNetwork signal? I am a current subscriber but have not seen any HD on Dish as of yet.

Go to your local sear's store, most of them get dishnet and run the demo channel on the hdtv's in the store. I have no problems with mine, good PQ on cbs, hbo, showtime and discoveryhd.

My Dish HD is just as good as OTA HD. No problems with that.
I have HBO HD and it looks great! Much better quality than DVD movies.

The Demo Channel, Discovery HD and the HDEvents are spectacular. HBO is so-so & Showtime is good when they actually do HD.
Dish is better than my OTA because I don't experience audio/video breakups with Dish and the picture is given full bitrate. Most of my local stations allocate sub channels and choke the HD channel down to about 12 Mb/s bitrate. The exception is PBS and it looks great.
Wipeout, you will not see any HD programming until you buy a HD reciever. Right now all that's available is the 6000 and it is out of production. Dish has several new models coming out soon so I would wait if I were you.

That was uncalled for. When I opened this Thread I hadn't decided to switch but then I saw the PVR Thread and it really disappointed me. That is when I decided enough is enough.

hehe - some tempers flare i see..
they call it DVR fees after all
PVR receivers - 501, 508, 721 (etc - if there are any more) will be grandfathered ...
No DVR fees would be on those...
