View Full Version : HR23 not working after swapping from HR21
For some reason my HR23 cannot find signal in my vacation home. I plug in my HR21 and it works just fine. My HR23 doesn't want to work at my vacation home but it works fine in my main home. I tried switching the cables and taking out BBC, but no luck. What could be the problem? Please help.

HR23's do not need BBCs... Have you tried a fresh boot with no BBCs attached?

Yes, I removed both BBC on two cables and tried to rerun the setup. I tried switching cables as well. Get 771 message.

Have you tried unplugging it for a few minutes? Then plugging back in, and rerunning the setup?

Yes, it seems like I tried everything. Is it possible that at home I have a newer setup (cables, sattelite, etc.) and here an older equipment (two years ago)? At home I only have to use one cable in the receiver, at vacation home I use two. Does that help any?
Thanks, for welcoming me here :)

It sounds like your receiver is getting confused; it's in SWM mode because that's what you have at home, where you have a legacy (i.e., conventional multiswitch) setup at the vaction home. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries to get the receiver to switch into legacy mode.

So what do you suggest I do? I've tried at least 6 times. Should I continue trying it (without BBC both cables)?

I would suggest upgrading your vacation home to SWM.
At the vacation home, make sure you run the setup with the correct dish. It should be a slim3, or 5, not SWM. Also no BBC's.

Thank you so much. You saved my life. I switched the dish to slim 5 and changed from SWM switch to multiswitch. Now it works like a charm.
