I have upgraded from Vista to W7. After all was said and done, I had video, but then it rebooted one more time and presto, no video! I have an HP M8407c. Anyone have any ideas?

Boot up into VGA mode, and then test the various resolutions. Its probably selected one your monitor cannot handle.

My video card doesn't have a vga output, but I can get it to work with the s-video output. HDMI won't work with the monitor, but it does with an LG 32" television.

VGA mode doenst mean VGA output only.

Boot into Safe Mode. This will reduce your video to VGA and give you a screen you can work from.
Determine your exact video card and make sure you have the proper and most up to date driver.
Check the properties of the video card as Windows 7 installed it and compare it to the most up to date drivers. Uninstall and reinstall as necessary.
Do you know what the optimum resolution setting is for your monitor?

Reboot, and as soon as your computer beeps, start tapping your F8 key to get to the boot menu. Boot into Safe Mode and change your screen resolution/refresh rate.

I triied using Ubuntu with no change. When I connect the HDMI cable to the HP monitor, it says no signal detected, the same as when I tried it with Windows 7. It sounds like the issue is with the monitor, not Windows 7.
EDIT: The monitor may not be the problem. It works fine with my H20 Directv receiver, but not with my computer. My LG tv works fine with both. Rats! This is confusing!

Just out of curiosity, have you actually tried anything anyone has suggested? :(

No. It is fixed, though! It was a resolution issue. I hadn't chosen the right one. Davelr and Battlezone were right. Thanks for all the help!
